MEMORIES AND STORIES: FROM ALBUMS TO REFRIGERATORS TO FACEBOOK
Our traditional family albums, those private collections of images and memories, are structured to filter out the negative. The same is true for our public displays on social media like Facebook. We would like to imagine our families as positive experiences. Remembering the unhappy times is for a therapist’s office. This talk will present examples from the history of photography to the present, putting Judith Black’s documentation of her family in context.
Join us for an evening with Professor Emerita Judith Black of the Wellesley College Art Department as we continue to celebrate our club's commemorative centennial theme. Refreshments and wine will be served.
Cost: $15 for members (dues-paying alums), $20 guests
